Block-Experiments in Cosmococa – São Paulo launch with Max Jorge Hinderer Cruz
We are pleased to announce the São Paulo launch of Hélio Oiticica and Neville D’Almeida, Block-Experiments in Cosmococa on Friday 5 April 2013. Organised by CAPACETE at the São Paulo Art Fair with the presence of co-author Max Jorge Hinderer Cruz.
Max Jorge Hinderer Cruz was a resident at CAPACETE in 2010, when he started working on Hélio Oiticica and Neville D’Almeida: Block-Experiments in Cosmococa. Co-authored by Hinderer Cruz and Sabeth Buchmann, this most recent book in our One Work series considers the influence the New York underground scene and Brazilian avant-garde cinema, as well as concrete poetry and the writings of Marshall McLuhan, Henri Bergson and others had on Hélio Oiticica’s Cosmococas. Suggesting that the work forms the basis for an extensive investigation of media theory in art, through analysis of its experimentation with duration, and its blurring of formats, languages and modes of spectatorship.
